I'll update you on the dates and call backs in second, but first, I've got to tell you how freaked out I am. Please tell me I shouldn't be and that I am just being stupid. Here's the story:
A guy I went to middle and high school with friended me on FB last week. He's apparently (from what I can tell) just recently joined. He sent me a note with his request about how we went to school together and he hoped I remembered him, etc. Sounded a little canned but nice. So I friended him. He immediately sent me an email via FB asking how I was, what I was doing, and telling me he was now a screenwriter and he'd be more than happy to share is scripts with me if I was interested. I didn't respond (it was Friday afternoon and I had a busy weekend and didn't get on FB all weekend). On Sunday he sent me the exact same email but this time to my personal gmail account. I was a little creeped out, it's like, leave me alone, I'll respond when I can. So I responded to the FB email that evening. It was short and sweet and I didn't give him a whole lot of information. He never responded but since then just about everytime I get on FB he immediately IM's me. Today he asked me if I worked from home (strange). If you saw the dudes picture and knew the type of person he was in school you'd understand my concern (he pretty much fits the profile of a serial killer). I did a little digging and found out all his screenplays are horror/murder flicks. Great. Also found out he lives in Overland Park. Great. And even better, he apparently (from what I can tell online) still lives his parents house(probably in the basement). So....for some reason he has me freaked out. Like he's gonna show up at my house and turn one of his screenplays into a real life experience. I'm so freaked out I set my house alarm ALL THE TIME. Not just when I leave and sleep, but when I take a shower, when I'm upstairs doing stuff, etc. I've also contemplated making up some hair brain story the next time he IM's me about being really tired because I've been moving all day (and telling him I moved in with my make believe boyfriend). I'm thinking that may scare him off. Please tell me I'm just being stupid (but first, go to my profile on Facebook...he's the last person I friended and look at this picture) !!!!
Okay...now onto the reason you probably came here to begin with...the post game report. I was a little suprised last night when Date #1 (drinks tues night)texted me to tell me he had had a dinner date with another gal and felt more chemistry with her so he'd like to see where that goes. Whatever. I can't say I'm all that upset. He was really nice and very safe. I knew people that knew him which is always a good thing but the fact I knew his ex-wife creeped me out a little. He didn't really knock my socks off and I wasn't all that excited about going on a 2nd, 3rd, 4th date with him. He was just...safe. Plus he was a tad on the short side for me and balding.
Meanwhile, I was really wasn't expecting to hear from lunch date yesterday. I had myself set up for a let down. I really felt like I probably wasn't his type. He comes off as being the type of guy that would probably go for the tiny, little blonde barbie girls (and could easily get whomever he wants...he pretty much looks like Ken). Layer that on top of being super successful, fun, athletic and yeah, I was thinking I probably wouldn't hear from him. But I did! He texted me last night and we went back and forth for quite a while. He told me he was really glad he had met me. We joked about how much territory we covered in an hour lunch (it was seriously like rapid fire). That was another reason I thought I wouldn't hear from him, I thought maybe I told him too much (come to find out, he thought he had done the same). I actually told him Farhad's name...that right there is usually enough to scare men off...I think at that point they begin to question my judgement. It was hysterical when I told him his name though...he says, "that makes me think of Far-quad from that Disney movie". Anyway, that apparently didn't scare him off. We haven't made plans to see other again. Might be a little challenging as he has his son until Sunday night, leaves for a work trip to the East coast Monday morning, then headed to North Carolina next weekend for a buddies wedding. Regardless, I was happy and little suprised to hear from him so soon after our little meet and greet.
That's it. I'm out. Let's all pray I don't get butchered into bite size pieces and shoved into a suitcase.
My life tends to be a revolving door of comedy and mishaps. These are just a few of the stories I've chosen to share. ***The real names and locations pertaining to these stories have been altered to protect the identity of those involved. If you think I'm blogging about you, your probably right but I'll never admit it.****

Wow...what to do now
That was fun! Both dates were great. They weren't necessarily knock your socks off blow me away great, but they were really, really, really good (probably the best I have had in my 2 years of dating).
Date #1 last night...we realized we both know quite a few of the same people. It's really nice when that happens. Puts him into the 'your not a lying psycho' category right away. Anyway, super nice guy. Successful but humble. Simple but exciting. I was pretty close with his 2 kids ages...11 and 12. Oh, and I know his ex-wife. That was awkward. She was a diver and we competed against each other. Oh, and she didn't like me. When I was a sophomore and she was a senior I beat her at state knocking her out of the top 3. Whoops! I didn't know her very well, but what I did 'know of her' was that she was a little strange, kind of hippy-ish strange. It's not a negative for him, but more like a "well if you were attracted to her, not sure you'll be attracted to me' type feeling. Nonetheless, we had a great conversation and he asked me if I'd be interested in going out again. That's ALWAYS such an awkward thing. I mean I always say yes, even if I don't mean it. It's hard for me to tell a guy to their face that you're not interested. This one though, I am interested in seeing again. We'll see what happens.
Lunch date today...he's definitely easy on the eyes, tall, very successful. But also has just a little bit of a arrogance to him (which isn't necessarily a bad thing...he's confident). I would definitely put him in the pretty boy/metro sexual category. Super funny. Really good conversation. Ya know...all the good stuff. He just moved here in August so I was a little concerned that he wouldn't have any friends here, etc (that's one of my red flags...they must have there own life and friends). I was happy to find out he actually had quite a few friends here. He's a tennis player (and looks like one). Apparently back in the day he was pretty darn good and played on the ATP tour. Some of the guys he played with and good friends of his growing up live in the area. The end of the date was as always, awkward. I was his very first match.com date. He was hysterical...we were walking out of the restaurant and he said, "I'm not really quite sure what I am suppose to say now...probably something like, I enjoyed this and want to do it again...does that sound right?" Doesn't sounds so funny now, but it was cute.
Anyway, all in all, 2 good dates. Made me have hope again in the process. Now, the waiting game...we'll see if they actually do call, etc. Woo-hoo...love this part!

"Next"
And the whirlwind of dating continues... I have "meet and greets" (they aren't technically dates...just 'meetings' since I've never met them before) tonight for drinks and tomorrow for lunch. I don't know why but they always seem to come in pairs. It's not intentional as I am truly a one man women. However, I can justify this since I've never met either of them. That said, these 2 have some promise. I'm trying to keep expectations low (very low) but really, these 2 guys have some real meat to them.
Tonight I'm meeting a guy that some of my friends actually know (woo-hoo. This allowed me to fib to my mom and tell her I met him through them...she hates the online dating scene). He's not only good looking (at least the pictures he's posted would lead to that...and I found his unlocked facebook page with about 100 more pictures that all lend to the fact he's good looking), he's tall, he's successful (been with a very large company here in Kansas City for 13 years in the technology field), doesn't live in his parents basement and is super nice. We've had great conversations and seem to share some mutual interests. He does have 2 kids...from the pics I saw I'm guessing they are about 12 and 10. Not the most ideal (younger would be better) but beggars can't be chosers! Wish me luck...6:45 drinks tonight!
Tomorrow's lunch date really has me intrigued. I also met him on Match (and told my Mom that...she seemed all excited about him and then the big let down, "how did you meet him?"). He recently moved to KC from Ohio. He grew up there however is ex-wife is from Overland Park. They have an 8 year old son and she wanted to move back to KC to be close to her family. He couldn't stand the thought of being away from his son so he moved too. Bless his heart! He is the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for his family business. After doing some re-con online, I found his family business is quite well known, as is he. They produce and market collectible artsy glass. Apparently, if you can get a piece of their art with one of the family members signatures it's worth some money. His grandfather started the business and it's stayed in the family for 3 generations. He was traveling this weekend and told me he had to attend a work event in New York City. Of course I found on there company website not only did he have to attend the event, he was the main attraction...it was a signing event where patrons could bring in their glass pieces and have him sign them. Pretty cool. He's seems fairly laid back, yet definitely has a good head on his shoulders. And, according to the pics he has online, pretty easy on the eyes. Although he didn't post too many pics which always worries me. A little more of a crap shoot.
So there's your pre-game rundown. I'll certainly be back soon to do a little updating and let you know if the 'players' live up to the hype!
In other news....I got an email and a wink today from a guy who's profile picture was his high school football portrait. Really? If you're going to put a an old picture of yourself online don't make it that obvious! It's like the idiot who put up pictures that have the date stamps on them: 9/13/99. No shit your 49 and only look 35 in your pictures! And to think, they are some gals out there who will fall for it!

The Blog is Back!
For the past 3 months I keep intending to get this thing back up and running, but you know how it is (at least you know how I am!). As most of you know, I've thrown myself back into the dating world (why, I don't know, but it does make for some good stories). This time around though I have a partner in crime. One of my best friends has found herself single this past year so we are enjoying the single ride together. She was doing the online dating thing and having some pretty good luck so I decided to throw my hat back into that ring. Again, why? I don't know...there are just as many insane people on there as there were 2 years ago.
So here's a very BRIEF rundown of the dates (at least the ones worth mentioning) I've had in the past month:
Guy #1: One word...psycho. I didn't realize this though until attempted date #4. I had spend the afternoon and evening at the emergency vet with Sasha. Things weren't looking good for her and I was in no mood to go out with him. That and the fact he didn't call me until 8:30pm to figure out what we were doing (um, I'm not 21. I normally go out before 10pm!). Needless to say I didn't call him back until well after 10. He was hammered at his friends bars (red flag #3 and #4. Him being hammered at his friends bar was a reoccurring theme). After a few minutes of listening to him beg and plead for him to come pick him up (um, no!), he started telling me he loves me and can't live without me. And there is was...18 degrees of crazy! NEXT!
Guy #2: He insisted on meeting me out on an evening when I was out with girlfriends on the Plaza (and planning to spend the night down there at my GF's). I finally caved (I will admit, I was a little tipsy). First of all, he didn't show up until 11:30pm. Secondly, he took a cab. Red flag #1 and #2. I had maybe one more drink in me before I was ready to call it a night. He seemed to think we were going to close down the bars. Again, I'm not 21. About 10 minutes into the "date" (I really can't even call it that), he turned to me and says, "So, do you think it would be okay if I just came back to your girlfriends house and spent the night there with you?". Me: "Um...NO! NO! AND NO!". He start pouting and actually says, "well, I took a cab all the way down here and now you're going to leave me along?". Me: "Yes". I've never done this before, but I proceeded to go to the bathroom, conveniently located my the back door of the bar and 'accidentally' went out the back door and left him at the bar. NEXT!
Guy #3: THE.WORST.EVER. I mean seriously. I knew I had problems when he called and couldn't find the restaurant. He was in the parking lot right next to it yet it took him 25 minutes to find it. This guy was a train wreck. He looked and smelled like he lived in his Mom's basement. Remember when I used to post the 'freak of the week'"? If he had had his actual picture on his online profile, he would have been a candidate. The problem was, his profile picture clearly wasn't of him. He also fudged his height just a little...maybe about 7 inches (he hardly cleared my shoulder). I met him for lunch this past Tuesday. He walked in and I actually thought to myself, "can I pretend to not know him and walk out the door". The problem is, my pics online ACTUALLY look like me. After ordering I cornered our server and told him to bring out our order ASAP. It worked. The lunch date lasted 23 minutes. NEXT!
We'll see when "NEXT" is. This is frustrating. I will say though, I went on a really fabulous lunch date last week (one of my friends set us up). He's out of town for 3 weeks though and I haven't talked to him. We'll soon see what transpires with that. In the meantime though...I'm ready for the "NEXT"....
